Do you think Orkut is losing its charm in the social networking market? Do you think that the nature of social networking is evolving, what with Twitter, Plurk and FriendFeed?
Social networking is fun. At least, it used to be. When Orkut started, it used to be a real good time pass for jobless people like you. New friends kept poring in, very old acquaintances, who were out of touch for a long time, started sending you teasers, meeting plans were hatched on Orkut and you, being early users, started creating communities on a lot of your passions…
This post manages to give a beautiful insight into the life of an average college going teen who is , recently, been getting himself acquainted with the various social networking sites that spoil you for choices. A must read…
By the way, WATBlog wishes you Happy Independence Day!
It is said that if you want to manage something (Girl friend, Money, Relations, etc), you must be able to understand them first. In other words, if you can’t understand them properly, you really can’t manage it well. Your personal finances & tax also falls within the above concept. How do you know whether you [...]
Orkut has quietly launched a feature that will take the orkut platform beyond the web and into people hands i.e. sms for your scraps. I personally feel this feature has come too late for the early adoptor segment which already seems to have moved on to things like facebook, twitter and the even more enthusiastic ones are feasting on friendfeed which kind of aggregates your social graph.
The folks working on Google seems to be at the pinnacle of their creativity and their ideas are oozing out with plethora of innovations. It seems Google has finally realized the importance of being able to easily share media and information on social networking sites. Just as Youtube had come up with Facebook, StumbleUpon and Digg buttons to share videos, you should now be able to find an Orkut logo too, adorning the pack.
Yes, you read the headlines right. According to our sources, Orkut plans to monetize its pages all over again. Since the fiasco with SaferNet, back in October 2007, advertisements might start mushrooming on the pages of Orkut. But what excites me the most is the chance of allowing Orkut members to become publishers themselves and [...]
Orkut developers seem to be on heavy duty mode, these days. First they come up with photo tagging and then within 2 days come up with another new feature, creating private communities on the basis of domain name email ids. The best part of this development is that Orkut has come finally come up with [...]
More the days pass, more we find Orkut trying to emulate Facebook. First, it was the applications, then came along status messages and now photo tagging. If you have been keeping very close tab on Orkut, you must have noticed the brand new “Photos of Me” section on your home dashboard. Here’s a little screenshotfor [...]
The guys at TechBuzz logged in to Orkut yesterday to find themes. This is not a javascript hack or Orkut app and according to him, only a limited number of users have access to this feature. As of now, you can choose between four different themes. More will be on the way. I tried logging into Orkut, [...]
A few months back I wrote a post on how my friend uses Orkut to get in touch with women. That post was supposed to be taken in a lighter vein. Same concept applies.
So it turns out that the same friend of mine is now looking for someone for his sister – a prospective groom. Like [...]

Over 25,000 Facebook applications’ installation crosses 1 billion mark on the eve of 1st anniversary of Facebook platform.

Mr. Steven Spielberg is set to launch a social networking site. So is this just another social networking site like Orkut or Facebook? The answer is no. It is true that a social networking site is meant for people to socialize on the web. But this site focuses on those users who have or had or are interested in sharing paranormal and extraterrestrial experiences. And it may also have original…
When Facebook launched its advertising platform last year, there were a few issues - ordinary members could create ‘Fan Pages’. So fans started creating pages around their favourite brands.
But there was a problem – when advertisers want to advertise with Facebook, they are requested to 1st create a fan page and then buy social ads. So [...]
We wrote about Dhingana way back in 2006 – they have just launched a spruced up version of their Social Network based on music.
They have the basic profile page, which gets updated automatically when you listen to some music. So for example if someone comes to your page, that person can see all the songs that you have [...]
I just opened up my Facebook Account Today and on my Newsfeed Page I saw a sponsored Poll.
The name of the brand on this poll has not been mentioned. A few months back I saw ads by Mobango in my Newsfeed but I refrained from clicking through primarily because it seemed pissing off.
Facebook has an option where [...]
