GoM setup for 3G auction,BSNL expands 3G service to 11 cities
Finally things seem to pickup for the 3G auction, reported earlier on Jan29 on GoM to be setup,the Government has yesterday setup a GOM( Group of Ministers) to resolve the issues on 3G auction which include setting the base price for the auction and finalizing the number of slots firms can bid for in the 20 of India’s 22 service areas to be covered by the sale.The GoM reportedly includes Mr Pranab Mukherjee (External Affairs), Mr Lalu Prasad (Railway), Mr Ram Vilas Paswan (Chemical and Fertilisers), Mr A. Raja (Telecom), Mr Anand Sharma (I&B), Mr Sharad Pawar (Agriculture), Mr A. K. Antony (Defence), Mr H.R. Bhardwaj (Law) and the Planning Commission Deputy Chairman, Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia.
Airtel Test Launches 3G Service in 3 Metros
Airtel has launched its 3G mobile services in the cities of Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore on a test basis.
Seems like after a really long wait Indian subscribers will get to see the benefits of 3G services. However, as we speak, operators in some countries are already testing the 4G services. China has decided to move to 4G, bypassing the 3G completely. And there is a looming question that should India move to 4G networks ?
Radio One gets on mobile while mCarbon to launch interactive SMS service in India
Radio One, the joint venture between BBC and Mid-Day has now came up with service for its mobile customers. The service will be provided along with OnMobile Global Limited, a Mobile Value Added Services (MVAS) company. The audience can just dial a number to listen to selected programmes on Radio One.
