IAMAI has issued a diktat for the orderly movement of Mobile VAS players.The code of conduct agreement issued by IAMAI will help in scrutinizing mobile VAS players in times of mishaps and would help in providing more qualitative services to Subscribers and Telcos.

IAMAI And IMRB have come up with a release on the number of active rural internet users. The number as of March 08 is pegged at 3.3 million active internet users in rural India. The total number of Internet users that have accessed the internet atleast once is pegged at about 5.5 million.

Towards the end of December IAMAI released a Vernacular Content Consumption Report. The report the last released by IAMAI in 2008 studies the consumption patterns of vernacular content, the potential and the barriers to consumption prevalent in the Indian digital (especially web) space. Besides the Internet the report also carries a heavy analysis of the Regional content consumption by Indians in general and also involves a specific comparitive study of Television and Internet with regards to this subject.
Earlier this month IAB introduced a new initative at creating transparency between agencies and publishers over quality leads with the Lead Quality Accountability Best Practices document.
The recommendations outlined in this document address two main areas:
1. Define best practices for advertiser sharing of invalid leads with publishers to improve the process of accounting for leads.
2. Define best practices for advertiser sharing of converted leads with publishers to improve advertiser conversions and ROI.
January can be termed as a Startup month.. With two of the biggest startup events scheduled to happen in January and both of them are going to be in Bangalore at the same venue.

I read the ET today (well I do it everyday, but that’s not the point) and saw this piece of news as an ad along with the knowledge forum article. Intel has launched a campaign to boost Internet penetration in India called ConnectedIndians.com. The effort named of course at the idea of connecting a billion Indians. The initiative has the biggest stakeholder’s in the Indian telecom and computing industry as sponsors and perhaps might be ‘the’ initiative to get the Internet moving beyond the metros in India.
The 4th and final panel of the IAMAI Digital Entertainment Conference held at Mumbai this week was on mobile entertainment.
