Nearly five years after undertaking the National e Governance Project (NeGP), the Indian government has missed many of its targets it set for itself. Major reason for this is cited as the lack of Internet connectivity, primarily in the rural areas. It is for this reason that the Government of India is planning to subsidize the setting up of broadband Internet facilities in the rural areas.
In another step towards e-govrenance, the Department of Information technology, Government of India has decided to host all the government orders issued online. Business Standard reports that various departments issuing Government Orders will be sent to the Information technology and Communication department for allotment of a number.
