Wordpress has released their latest a much faster and cooler version of it popular blogging platform. So after getting a lot of people excited with its 2.7 release WP 2.8 is now available for download and has packed in a lot more user friendliness than before. According to Wordpress - version 2.8 represents a nice fit and finish release for WordPress with improvements to themes, widgets, taxonomies, and overall speed.

Towards the end of April, Automattic announced the release of version 1 of its long awaited ‘community management system’ - Buddypress. I have been tracking Buddypress since the time Andy Pleating joined Wordpress to make Buddypress so technically this post is a tad late. Nevertheless, here is basic foundation course on Buddypress and what you can do with it.

Wordpress.com users can now post to their blogs using email. This bit of update follows the popular comment by Email feature they added a few weeks back. It certainly simplifies blogging on wp a lot simpler as the feature can be accessed from any device. You can send email from any email client, whether in a browser, on your desktop, or from your cell phone, and as much formatting will be retained as possible. And much like Posterous, multiple image attachments will be converted into a gallery of the images on your post.

All these happen when people talk, and if your aim as a brand is to engage with a blog’s audience use the media asset/space you get on a blog to let people talk. Let them speak on what you want to know from them, or let them speak on what you want others to know about you, and make all this happen on that banner space you put just your logo on.

Blogging began as a journal of thoughts and daily activities to add depth to people’s profiles online. Soon it replaced personal web pages and began attracting a lot of people on board. Importantly it also shifted from being just a journal to a page of conversations with comments. This gave space for people to build relationships on the web and thus sowed the seeds of social media.

While the case is closed on the Twitter profile of Shah Rukh Khan as a fake, Shah Rukh has officially began blogging on the Kolkata Knight Rider’s website.
