State-owned telecom firm Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) and Pantel Technologies Pvt Ltd have introduced four new mobile devices in India under its ‘Bharat Phone’ range. The duo have launched one feature phones, two smartphones and one tablet.
The entry level dual sim feature phone is priced as low as Rs 1,799 and sports a 3-inch display along with internet browsing. Dubbed as Penta Bharat Phone PF300, the device is powered by Java and has 64MB of internal memory and upto 8GB expandable external memory. It has a stereo FM, a 1.3MP camera and comes with 1,200 minutes of free talktime from BSNL.
In addition to the feature phone, BSNL has also launched 6.5-inch display bearing PS650 smartphone for Rs 7,999 and 5-inch display bearing PS501 for Rs 6,999. The new Penta smartphones run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. The PS650 boasts a 2MP camera while the PS501 has 5MP camera.
Penta Smart PS650 is a 3G device priced at Rs.7,999 with 6.5-inch display and the PentaSmart PS501 with 5-inch display comes with a price tag of Rs. 6,999. This initiative is targeted at rural India, in order to provide easy and affordable internet connectivity to the population. All the smart devices come pre-loaded with anti-malware offerings from TrustPort.
Finally, BSNL has also rolled out 7-inch PentaT-Pad WS707C tablet with support for voice-calling. Powered by 1.2GHz A7 dual-core chipset combined with 512 MB RAM and 4GB internal storage, the device runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The tablet is priced for Rs 6,999 and comes with 3GB of BSNL data and 300 minutes of free talk-time on BSNL network.
