With the aim to assist budding entrepreneurs for their future ventures, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has allocated an amount of INR 500 crores. He announced the same via Google Hangout to large number of college students. Chandy also mentioned that entrepreneurship development projects in the fields of information technology and telecommunications would be extended to agriculture, health, tourism, culture and entertainment sectors.
“Hi-tech farming will be promoted. Entrepreneurship development clubs will be started in colleges. Finding capital will no longer be a problem for young entrepreneurs. The government wants to create a State that has a contented and confident youth. The government will do everything possible to make their dreams come true,” he said. Last month, the government had charted out a plan of action to support young entrepreneurs by conducting an online screening programme for students in the VII to XII standards.
Chandy also announced that all student entrepreneurs in Kerala, will get 20 percent grace on attendance and four percent on marks. Earlier in June Kerala Government had launched m-Governance app which provides information about state departments and the various functions so that people have have a better idea about the workings of the government. I feel this is a great step from the Government of Kerala and will encourage youth to dive into entrepreneurial startups. Also, other states should follow this and make provisions for youth from their states as well.
