Mobile video and media company Vuclip has launched Dynamic Adaptive TranscodingTM technology, which would allow buffer-free play of videos across any network and mobile device.
According to the company, the new mobile technology enables a seamless experience across any network and any device by simultaneous optimisation of the content and dynamically adapting the video stream to the constantly varying bandwidths. Available currently on Vuclip Android app, the new technology will help users save data costs.
The Android app which was launched on July 1m has so far seen over a million downloads. The company did not provide any information about when will this technology land on its iOS, Symbian and BlackBerry apps. Mobile video consumption and sharing has increased recently with advent of new video sharing platforms like Vine and Instagram Videos. A recent Vuclip survey revealed that 65% of Indian users share mobile videos as compared to 53% globally.
Earlier in February this year, Vuclip acquired Mumbai and Toronto based mobile video streaming startup Jigsee for a no cash stock-swap deal. In the same month Vuclip also launched a new advertising unit. The firm announced in July that it has reached more than 80 million unique users monthly around the world.
Vuclip raised USD 13 million in Series D funding led by SingTel Innov8, a new strategic investor, and existing investors NEA and Jafco last year in November.
