In a bid to attract more users, Nimbuzz has revamped its Android app with a complete redesign of the user interface that gives users a smooth chatting experience. The cross platform and VoIP service has updated the app with improved file sharing feature that offers convenient as well as faster file transfers.
The updated Android app now gets richer and colorful user profiles that allow users to share a quick bio of themselves. A similar feature to the instant messenger big daddy WhatsApp. The profiles also lets users sort their chat based on the type, like friends, family, or group chat with a few coworkers or family members. Another feature added to the app is that instead of tapping your way through the application, users can now swipe across the current chat screen to switch between different chats. It also gets a fresh dialer that makes voice calls quick and easy.
Nimbuzz for Android also gets trendy emoticons which is kind of a big deal in instant messaging services these days. However, the service has not added stickers to its updated android app which comes as a bit of a surprise considering stickers being the latest trend of such services.Line, Viber, Hike, WeChat and even Facebook Messenger for mobile and web now have these quirky stickers.
Finally, the Nimbuzz android app gets a Notification Center that displays all of your new chat notifications in one location. The app also gets a new invite friend widget that can access contacts and send invites via SMS.
Speaking about the updated Vikas Saxena, CEO, Nimbuzz said,
“Trends on Nimbuzz show us that, in addition to messaging, 1 out of 3 Nimbuzz users actively use the calling functionality. We have also observed that more users are logging in to the platform through Wi Fi than ever before. The new user interface is designed to make calling more convenient and enriching. I strongly believe that voice calls are going to be the next phrase of disruption that Nimbuzz will create in the communication space globally“.
Nimbuzz who has more than 150 million users is facing a tough competition from other players like WhatsApp, Viber and WeChat who have crosses 300 million user mark. Last month, Nokia had partnered Nimbuzz for a marketing campaign. The service is also considering buying the new Unified Licenses to start offering Internet telephony services in India.
