As per latest statistics corroborated by third party social media research agency Gigya, Facebook has a majority in terms of regular ‘Social Logins’. Surprisingly, Google’s offering in the similar domain, Google+ too is gaining steadily. Albeit at 24%, which is nowhere close to Facebook’s 52%, Google+ is still ahead of Yahoo’s 17%. Gigya confirms that the pattern exhibited by Google+ is highly encouraging. So essentially, despite a slow start, Google+ has managed to gain users’ attention.
Facebook is appealing even on e-Commerce sites: It appears, Facebook’s appeal is not limited to socializing or other activities, frivolous or otherwise. It has been gaining prominence in the field of e-Commerce as well.
Realizing the importance of sharing buying history & purchases to friends & colleagues, apart from simplifying the log-in process, many e-Commerce websites have offered users to join with a single-click usually marked ‘Login With Facebook’. As per statistics users have been more than content clicking this button rather than filling-up a lengthy ‘Registration Form’.
While Facebook login details might ease the log in process, it is a company that is focusing on native e-commerce as well. On multiple occasions we have seen Facebook steering its policies & processes to encourage its subscribers in indulging in some type of buying activity.
Such traction is very clearly beneficial to Facebook as it now has a clear idea about the purchasing decisions & expectations of its subscribers. Do you think we will now witness a growth in relevant advertising?
