The online cab booking site TaxiForSure.com has announced the launch of its unique #TweetATaxi Campaign on Twitter. Users can now book its taxi services over a tweet. This initiative should ideally be effective in providing the users with a quicker, simpler, and a hassle- free cab booking experience. However, the response so far to this has been wanting.
Based on the information provided by the company, it is understood that the user simply has to send a tweet to TaxiForsure’s Twitter handle @taxiforsure along with hashtag #TweetATaxi. However, the individual will need to send them a direct message in order to confirm the booking. Additionally, as a part of the campaign these respective tweets will also help the users in gaining an incentive and along with other good deals. But even after the campaign ends, it is unclear whether the company will continue this medium to receive bookings via Twitter.
At present, the #TweetATaxi hash tag has failed to trend. There are just a handful of tweets in response to this campaign. Probably people don’t have an idea about this service as of now, because traditionally people are just aware of the Meru cabs, Mega cabs, Olacabs etc.
If we look at other similar initiatives over the past few years, then we are treated to different sets of results as a whole. Previously in May 2012, Tata DOCOMO had launched a Twitter application called Twittcom, which helped the GSM Pre -paid customers for assisting the progress to recharge and activate Special Tariff Value recharge (STV), Value added service (VAS) through the medium of Twitter.
TaxiForSure.com has brought in this unique campaign, thereby marking its presence to be important in its own ways. Launching a service like this after the announcement of its mobile application (iOS and Android) is a leap forward in connecting with the tech savvy customers. Even though the campaign didn’t do well, it is a welcome feature nonetheless.
