Ayojak has rebranded their service and is now known as Explara. The move comes as part of a larger effort to grow global. They announced the change in their official blog. Ayojak has had a good 4 year run and has powered the registration and ticketing functions of quite a few events over the years. We have used Ayojak for our WATSummit and Digital CMO events and we have to say that it worked out well for us.
The rebranding comes a few months after the company got funded by multiple investors such as HBS Alumni Angels, Rajan Anandan, Kishore Warrier, Blume Ventures and Srijan Capital. The investment amount wasn’t disclosed. The company is now looking to scale its service to handle around 3000 events a month as compared to the previous count of 300. It also has global ambitions and is now planning to break into foreign markets because it believes that event ticketing and other functions are still fragmented. In short, it aims to be a ticketing/registration platform which also doubles up as an event discovery platform.
Explara was chosen to succeed Ayojak as a name probably because it would be difficult for global audiences to relate to this Indian term. The pricing for the service has also been made affordable, so that the product can face low barrier to entry in other cities and countries. If you take a look at the website you will see that the website is now designed along flat design principles and is quite eye-catching in terms of the color palette used. The usability is also pretty neat and it does feel like a very international product. The service is currently live in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi/NCR, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad and Goa.
