Amazon has announced that its Kindle Fire range of tablets will be available on June 27 on its website and other retail establishments in the country. Among the list of products that will be available are the Kindle Fire HD 8.9”, Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Paperwhite 3G and Kindle Paperwhite. The only Amazon product available right now is the normal Kindle which is currently retailing at Rs. 5999 on the website.
The Kindle Fire series are a family of affordable tablets which run a heavily customized version of Google’s Android. The tablets have good specs in addition to their own appstore and custom browser. The tablets are priced decently with the Kindle Fire HD 8.9” costing Rs. 21999 and the Kindle Fire HD costing Rs. 15,999. The Kindle Paperwhite devices are priced at Rs.13,999 for the 3G version and Rs.10,999 for the normal one.
All these are signs of a greater push on Amazon’s side of entering into the Indian e-commerce market. Having recently set up Amazon.in, the company will be focusing on getting more of its services in the country over time. Amazon’s entry has already caused quite a stir in the Indian e-commerce sector and apparently price wars have begun again in full force.
