French Advertising & Communications conglomerate, the Publicis Groupe, has effected fresh top management, for its wholly owned & largest global network; Publicis Worldwide. The company has announced the sourcing of talent specifically for its India & South Asia operations.
Who is on board?
Former Chief Creative Officer (CCO) at JWT, Bobby Pawar will be joining as director and CCO for South Asia. Managing partner at Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH) India, Partha Sinha has been appointed as director and Chief Strategy Officer for the same region, whereas, former CEO of ZenithOptimedia, Ambika Srivastava, will look after marketing and new business development for India. All three will report to CEO Nakul Chopra South Asia, Publicis & will join as Board Members of Publicis India.
Publicis has been aggressively pushing for expansion in the India & South Asia regions. Especially via Inorganic Expansions, the company has acquired other agencies in niche & general categories of digital & physical advertising & public communications.
The company has always employed an interesting technique while buying out a company. It never reshuffled the erstwhile top management within the company. This ensured the company being bought continued to function under the same hierarchy. However, this precise gesture ensured a lot of top bosses spread across the multiple acquisitions. Hence, Publicis might have looked elsewhere to rein in talent that will head all these acquisitions under a centralized reporting structure, also bringing in a streamlined approach rather than operating in a decentralized environment.
Brand Communication has evolved very rapidly, owing to multiple avenues, many of which are highly organic in nature. Hence the company is right in going for inorganic expansion to quickly augment its international team & ensure its aim of doubling foot-print in India within the next two years, is on track. Perhaps the company strongly believes in bringing in fresh perspective, be it entire companies or talent. What do you think?
