Soon after giving its Android and iOS apps a tweak yesterday, Pinterest has rolled out a new feature that will make it easier for users to send pins to their friends. The popular social scrapbook has added a ‘Send‘ button that lest users send pins directly to your friends and family on both mobile and the web.
“You can send pins to fellow pinners (if you both follow each other), Facebook friends, or email contacts. If they repin, like or comment on the pin, we’ll let you know through notifications, too”, software engineer Sunny Rochiramani wrote in a blog post.
Previously, you could only send a pin to someone via email. While sending pins, users can also add a message to their pin, for a more personal touch. I believe the addition of send-to-friend feature will be welcomed by users as it was a bit complex procedure to send an email regarding a certain pin. This feature will benefit Pinterest and increase user engagement on the platform and will stimulate repeat visits. Moreover, it will help users to send pins to their friends in a faster way.
When you send a pin to another user, they will get a notification. If they make an action on that pin, including commenting, liking, or repinning, you’ll see that in your notifications as well. The ‘Send’ button was not seen on when I tried to explore it. According to Pinterest, the feature will roll out in coming weeks.
Pinterest has received a number of updates recently. In March Pinterest got a makeover for its website. In the same month it started rolling out data analytic tool for businesses. The digital scrapbooking website is emerging as a suitable platform for brands and companies looking to expand their digital marketing bases.
