Dropbox, the popular online cloud storage service has tweaked its desktop client with a couple of new features. The latest 2.0 update gives Dropbox a slick look with improved notifications and enhanced sharing features.
The 2.0 update brings easy file sharing directly from the Dropbox desktop menu. You can also accept or decline invitations to shared folders right from the menu. A new share button has also been added next to content in the menu, making for easier sharing right when a file is uploaded.
Finally, Dropbox has also added real time notifications which will pop up on your iOS and Android apps. The new desktop version for Mac and Windows can be downloaded directly from Dropbox website.
Dropbox which faces competition from services like Google Drive, iCloud, Skydrive, etc. has 100 million users which are saving 1 billion files a day. Dropbox has been putting greater emphasis on improving its mobile user experience and has rolled out series of updates on its iOS and Android apps recently. Last year in September, Dropbox added sharing capabilities within Facebook Group.
Although the update is not a major one, the entire effort is focused on allowing users to spend less time managing their Dropbox account.
