Aspiring entrepreneurs and startups in India now have yet another accelerator program designed to get them to start flying. The Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) and Village Capital have joined hands to kickstart an accelerator program for aspiring technology startups. This program is designed for for profit tech startups looking to solve problems in mobile/ICT, health, agriculture, education, sustainability and livelihood solutions.
Applications are now open for the program till March 18th, 2013. Successful applicants will then be going through intensive sessions when the program starts on April 11th, 2013. At the culmination of this program, the two top ranked startups will get around $50,000 in investment. The unique thing about the program is that the startups and entrepreneurs will be peer reviewed so that the best startups and ideas can stand out. Besides this, it is usual drill of mentorship, feedback, online collaboration and meetings with top investors in the country. This is a 12 week accelerator and will take in a maximum of 15 companies. Additionally, the selected companies will get a chance to showcase their company and network at the Sankalp Unconvention Summit 2013 through a scholarship provided by VillGro.
Shashank Rastogi, Director of Operations at CIIE spoke about the program,
“CIIE has been supporting some of the leading social ventures in India, and this partnership with Village Capital will help us identify and help innovative Indian startups in the technology for development space. This is one of the several initiatives we plan to introduce in the near future to co-create the next generation of social enterprises”.
Ross Baird, Executive Director of Village Capital had this to say for the idea behind the program,

Since this is a collaboration between two different entities, folks from both sides will be jointly managing this program.
