This is the second article in our series on Social Media for small businesses. If you have a small business venture and are trying to get social media to work for you, then you should follow the series.
I recently wrote an article on how to manage social media if you are a time strapped small business owner, highlighting the importance of choosing the right social media platform and only spending time managing those selected few platforms effectively. But how should you decide which platform works best for you? They all have a little bit that your business could profit from and there are a lot of overlapping pros and cons to each platform.
Platforms that you use on a daily basis and are comfortable with might be tempting to use but they may not always be the best choice from a business perspective. Two things to bear in mind in order to shortlist the platform that will work best for your business are knowing what you want to achieve from your social media and understanding the pros and cons of each platform. Once you have this in front of you, the choice will be easier to make.
There are many pros and cons lists available out there on popular social media platforms. However, the list below focuses mainly on the needs of small business owners who frequently face time, resource and monetary constraints.
