Evernote has around 50 million users worldwide and offers many new companion products like Skitch, Evernote Hello, Evernote Food, Evernote Clearly and Evernote Peek. The app is cross platform and works across iOS, Android and the web. The company is paying more attention to the country now that they have reached a sizable bit of traction. They have announced their interest in getting Evernote Business to the country according to this post from Lighthouse Insights. Evernote is the enterprise version of the app that can be used by employees to get things organized in their company. This app might come to India by the first of this year.

Evernote business makes thing easy for employees working small and medium enterprises because of their enterprise optimized features like companywide business library, data ownership, easy deployment across the company, user and data management/storage etc. The Business version also has support for very specific third party apps like Fujitsu Scansnap, Zapier, LiveMinutes and Uber Conference thus giving enterprise users added functionality for very specific tasks. The beauty of Evernote in general is the easy accessibility across platforms and this by design works for an enterprise that has embraced a BYOD paradigm, which these days is pretty much everybody.

The rise in adoption of Evernote and their interest to focus on India is a telling sign of the change that is sweeping across India. Besides global investors flocking to the country, we are now seeing the official entries of new product companies. Earlier, when Google, Facebook and other set up shop in the country, it was majorly for R&D work instead of actually releasing products in the country. That has changed and now India is being seen as the next big market opportunity for product companies. Indian product startups are also seeing a boost due to VC interest in the sector. We think that the dawn of India as a tech product driven country is nigh and it will be a good time for the technology and Internet industry in the country because there is a huge scope of growth in sectors like mobile Internet, cloud computing, digital and social media.
