Lifestyle e-commerce firm Pepperfry has appointed Kashyap Vadapalli, as its Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Vadapalli managed the same post earlier in eBay India. He has had multiple successful stints at India operations of global companies like Google and Tata Interactive Systems in the past. Ambareesh Murty, Founder and CEO, Pepperfry.com spoke about the appointment saying that, “I am delighted to have Kashyap on the team, his business acumen and strategic insights will be extremely valuable to us on our journey to become India’s number one Home & Lifestyle eRetailer”.
What will be his responsibilities?
Kashyap has been one of the core team members to have conceptualized the marketing road-map & accession strategy for all of the companies involved. Hence, we can safely assume his role at Pepperfry won’t be much different than what he is proficient at.
With clear focus on Home, Fashion & contemporary jewelry, Pepperfry seems to be heavily into customized wear too. In fact, quite recently, we witnessed the unveiling of a website closely resembling Pepperfry, identically called Pepper Closet!
Despite the heavy regional competition in whatever Pepperfry is selling, the company has some ambitious targets that it had vouched to meet before 2012 was out. To help in the cause, the company had even orchestrated an innovative pre-launch campaign. Vadapalli is quite clear about his immediate tasks at hand, “The company’s marketing efforts will be focused towards implementing initiatives which will accelerate its already fast paced expansion. Additionally we will also focus on tapping new businesses that drive virality and community building amongst our target shoppers” he said.
It will surely be interesting to see eBay’s CMO applying his skills for Pepperfry. Let’s see what changes the new man makes.
