This Ganeshotsav, digital innovation is helping millions stranded in serpentine queue to get a glimpse of their favorite deity. Hungama Digital Media Entertainment Pvt. Ltd in association with Lalbaugcha Raja Trust is bringing live feed to followers who cannot make it to the mahotsav.
How does one avail of this service?
Hungama has ensured multiple avenues for access. Smartphones running on Android have an application already available on Google Play. However, iOS version is in the last stages of development. A WAP site from the content provider’s website, will also offer streaming services to watch the Puja Live or the action in the Pandal anytime of the day. Users need to SMS ‘Lal’ to 54646 and click on the WAP link that is SMSed back. Finally an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) service is also pressed into action. Devotees can dial 54646 from any mobile service to listen to Aartis, Shloka, Chalisa and Bhajans.
Innovative content is bound to attract viewers who can then be offered advertisements. Further, contextual & relevant advertisements are gaining rapid prominence. To offer such high level of customization of ads, it is important to know the likes of the target audience. Since people opting for this endeavor will surely be religious, advertisements pertaining to such a theme are bound to do well. Though so far Hungama has not released any information pertaining to the ad-platform that many others have already deployed; only time will tell how Hungama plans to monetize these efforts.
It is great to see digital media being used to cater to basic & real-life situations. Owing to the wide-spread appeal of the deity & the crazy fan-following of the Lalbaugcha Raja, millions throng to the venue & are stranded for hours, sometimes days till they get a glimpse of the God.
