Akamai Technologies serves its cloud operations for some of the biggest websites and services globally (Facebook included) and its expansion plans in the country signify that India is growing as a digital and tech nation. Currently, the company serves around 100 enterprises in India to provide a good user experience across platforms and devices. Some of these enterprises are Redbus and Bombay Stock Exchange. Their customer list represents a diverse set of online services companies working in segments like Finance, manufacturing, travel, e-commerce, media, entertainment and IT.
Here is what Sanjay Singh, Senior VP & GM, Asia Pacific & Japan, and Managing Director, India had to say about the announcement.
“India is one of our fastest-growing markets globally and it is exciting to see the traction over the last year in our customer base. We continue to see positive growth in this market as industries like financial services, manufacturing and e-commerce innovate online business models leveraging our market-leading cloud platform. As we expand our customer base, it is critical to have customer-facing operations across multiple cities in India and I am pleased to announce our expansion in Delhi and Mumbai. As Internet adoption grows in India, these new local offices will provide new solutions and capabilities to help our Indian customers move their businesses faster forward.”
This specially great news for enterprises that they will now have access to some of the most stable cloud storage and access technology in the world. This is a good time for Indian companies to migrate their processes and operations to the cloud.
