Tushky Events & Entertainment Pvt. has managed to secure Rs. 35 Lakh (US$ 63,000) funding from an undisclosed Angel funding group. Tushky.com, which offers tourists a chance to explore, view & then book off-track local activities went live a mere 4 months ago will utilize the funds to bolster backend operations & will strive to scale up its business model.
The owners are also planning to build a Model–View–Presenter (MVP) & also successfully execute a Proof-of-Concept (PoC). In simpler words, owing to the infancy of the whole operation, they will have to prove that their model of business works & travellers can get a glimpse at what’s on offer. Local deals sites have been mushrooming lately. More so, some sites are now trying to shed their set image & move on. Then what is so unique about Tushky? “We are investing our time in learning this nascent and badly fragmented sector.”says Talvinder Singh, Founder and CEO of Tusjky.
The web-portal tries to connect travellers with local & more essentially lesser known or unknown guides, tour operators and experience providers. This enables the travellers to discover & book local experience which are uncommon. Activities like sky diving, Parkour (street-running), sword fighting, pottery, etc. are just some of the unusual activities.
Travel sites, in the early days, were limited to offering ticket booking service. However, with the growing competition they have learnt to adapt & hence now strive to add more services within their purview. Gone are the days, when travellers were happy with having their tickets booked & delivered to them. They now seek a complete package. Starting from a pickup from their location to matching their tastes with the local happenings. Understanding this fundamental need to offer multiple choices & avenues to spend their free time, the travel companies have now started adding services like Taxi pick-up & drop, while others have tied-up with local shops & event managers to offer deals & experiences.
With such a off-standard agenda, can Tushky benefit from a tie-up with a bigger Online Travel Agent (OTA)?
