Airtel Launches iExam, A Test Preparation Tool

Bharti Airtel’s Direct-To-Home (DTH) Service company Airtel Digital TV has come up with interactive test preparation service. Christened iExam, it will be first of its kind to offer coaching & practice tests to students preparing for competitive exams.

The education filed has multiple facets. They include basic literacy to advanced streams. While many are offering content for mass education, companies offering such specialized assistance are few. A while ago Tata DoCoMo had launched services for IIT-JEE aspirants. It was a mobile-only endeavor. Given the screen limitation, we have not witnessed large scale adoption.

TV as a medium to deliver education is being rapidly explored. The screen real estate of todays TV is getting bigger every year. Couple that with enhancement of connectivity options, is truly blurring the gap between a regular TV & a computer. Since interactivity is no longer a hurdle TVs can be successfully exploited to deliver not just entertainment, but also infotainment. Under this emerging segment, TV is playing a crucial role. Similar to mobile, set-top-boxes have witnessed a tremendous growth in adoption. Since the DTH relies on satellite connectivity, such valuable content can easily reach locations where one can find only electricity & a TV. No need of Internet!

To deliver such super-special content, Airtel has tied up with Kota-based education service provider Career Point. Airtel has plans to add additional competitive exams under the offering like CAT, Bank PO, and PMT examinations.

What’s in it for the Students?

Costing just Rs. 196 per month, the service will offer customized results & growth planning.  Important information such as the students’ weak and strong areas, timing skills and accuracy levels will be offered along with feedback and recommendations based on individual performance. Additionally information about colleges, upcoming competitive exams & financial aid options will be offered. Interestingly, the application platform is developed by Brizz TV.

Lets see how successful this VAS will be.
