CNBC-TV18 To Live-Stream Union Budget Feed On YouTube

CNBC TV18 will broadcast its TV feed simultaneously on its YouTube channel on the budget day. The union budget is to be presented on March 16, 2012. CNBC-TV18 and moneycontrol.com have made a special arrangement with YouTube for this.

CNBC-TV18 is India’s premier business news channel. Union Budget is the biggest annual event for a business channel. CNBC-TV18 will try to en-cash it with attracting as many viewers as possible.

CNBC-TV18 had partnered with YouTube last year too. Gautam Anand, Director, Content Partnership, Google APAC said, “CNBC-TV18 coverage for the Union Budget 2011 was very well received by our users on YouTube. And we’re delighted to extend our association again this year to bring live coverage feed of Union Budget 2012 to our users.”

YouTube, the video sharing property of Google, has achieved tremendous success in the last few years. It received 1 trillion hits in 2011. It receives four billion views every day. Also, every second one hour of video content is uploaded to the site. Google has created a fun website to put this in perspective.

YouTube recently revamped its user interface. The new interface is called as YouTube Slam, which streamlines the content for a user and gives more focus to channels.

This is also being seen as a part of Google’s new strategy to add more ‘feature content’. Google has recently tied up with many media entities to make their content available on YouTube. This premium content has more monetizing potential than user-generated content and hence financially more rewarding. The tie-up with CNBC-TV18 is part of the same endeavor.
