Tata Docomo is betting big on value added services and Android. They announced today that they had successfully have brought quality Android games to their users via a partnership with Exent. Exent’s GameTaniumTM is the first all-you-can-eat subscription service offering unlimited playing time on Android. Tata Docomo hopes that its millions of its Android users would benefit from such a service.
Android’s market share in India is growing phenomenally due to the adoption the platform is seeing in India as compared to other mobile platforms. Brands like Samsung, MTS and now Idea are looking leverage the Android platform and make users buy smartphones instead of the feature phones of old. This is also due to the open nature of Android and the customizability it offers to carriers and phone manufacturers. Gaming and social media is the reason why increasing number of people buying into the platform. Another reason is that the price of low and medium end Android phones is pretty affordable.
