Ditto TV To Rival DTH; Who Gains More?

Zee New Media, today launched TV distribution platform, Ditto TV. Additionally, the content will be available to consumers on their mobile phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, entertainment boxes and connected TVs.

Currently airing 21 channels, Ditto TV has already inked deals for content with Multi Screen Media (Sony Entertainment Television), TV Today Network, BBC, and ZEE to offer 50 channels shortly.

How is better than say, Direct-To-Home (DTH)?

Well, for starters, Ditto TV is a ‘Content Streaming Technology’ that does not rely on a Set-Top Box, a feature mandatory for DTH. It is more on the lines of Internet or cloud-driven distribution of content. It features adaptive streaming, electronic program guide, a content recommendation engine and an modified user interface.

All this enables a subscriber to have a digital & controlled TV viewing experience. The distribution being digital, is also available for Computers (Both Windows & Mac!)

Many companies are getting into such models of distribution, be it TV channels, education, entertainment or even Smart-apps for Social Networking. To top it, Ditto TV will even be available on application stores for smartphones viz. Apple App Store, Android Market, and BlackBerry Application World. Thus smartphone users will have access not only to video-clips, but also premium content from across the world. As telecom companies push for more data consumption, we see a healthy propagation of such initiatives.
