Disney Movies Re- Released On YouTube: Spreading The Holiday Cheer?

YouTube has just rolled out some full-length Disney movies from the archives. These movies are available for a nominal rent.

Coming up with perfect timing for the holidays, YouTube has re-released some classic Disney movies available on rent like Alice in Wonderland and Winnie the Pooh. Available both for the Desktop & Android smart-phones, the service allows users to stream, and save the movies for offline viewing. Pricing is US $3.99 for the titles, and the viewing window (or validity of the ‘Ticket’) is 24 hours.

Earlier this month, YouTube and The Walt Disney Co had confirmed that they were teaming up to co-produce original video series and feature “family-friendly” Disney programming on the popular video-sharing site. “Disney Interactive will produce and program the co-branded video destinations for both Disney.com and YouTube, providing a family-friendly experience for viewers across both platforms,” Disney and YouTube said. “More Disney movies are going to appear in the Google ecosystem in the coming weeks, as well” confirmed the statement. These Disney movies will join thousands of other full-length feature films from Hollywood & Bollywood studios that already are available to rent on YouTube.

So what makes this venture unique from say, struggling Netflix, Hulu, Vuclip or our desi version BigFlix?

Google confirmed that the content will be further updated with Disney classics along with new releases, behind the scene clips, extra footage from these feature films and cast and crew interviews. This indeed seems to be a great way to bring out that inner-child in you and for a family to bond.

Unfortunately, the aforesaid movies are not presently available for Indians on YouTube Movies. But it only seems a matter of time before they do.

Will you watch a full-length movie online? Do let us know.
