North American Espresso maker Barista has just announced it will add WiFi hotspots to its Indian chain of coffee shops Barista Lavazza.
Barista Lavazza, currently owned by Lavazza, Italy’s largest coffee company will enable wireless connectivity across all its cafés in India. The equipment is being installed by Spectranet.
Almost all devices are WiFi enabled now-a-days, Premium & cheap tablets both are getting it! Under such scenario, having Net connectivity while lounging in a café just makes business sense. A customer is likely to spend both time & money, if he can carry on working at the same time. Udit Mehrotra, Managing Director, Spectranet echoes the statement, “The web is now a routine part of everyday life. New Wi-Fi enabled portable devices are hitting the shops every day. Spectranet is taking the lead in enabling Wi-Fi hotspots across public places like Cafes, Malls and Airports etc. We are extremely pleased to partner with the leading global café chain in India, Barista Lavazza, enabling them to deliver hi-speed Wi-Fi to their customers”
Barista seems to have realized this late. Even trains have got WiFi these days! R Shivashankar, Director-South Asia, Lavazza expressed his intentions as, “The idea behind introducing Wi-Fi is to provide a value-added service to our customers by enabling them to relax and surf the net while they enjoy their coffee. The intent is to provide a truly enriching experience”.
Wonder what security Barista will offer for those who access its network? And is it an desperate attempt to attract the working crowd and beat its competition like Cafe Coffee Day?
