Twitter Rolls Out Its Analytics Product

Twitter has done it finally. According to Mashable, the micro blogging site has announced its analytics product and invited some of its users for alpha testing. The announcement for the product was made in July this year.

Twitter Analytics will allow users to see an array of data and Information of their account. For instance, the product will give an insight as to which tweets are more successful, which tweets made people unfollow a user and who retweet and reply to their tweets.

The bar graph here shows mentions, follows and unfollows. Also tweets are filtered in terms of categories that are defined as best, good and all.

One key take away from the product is that it is going to be offered at free of cost for time being. This announcement could have possibly become a reason to worry for those third party players, who are already providing this kind of tools. For example, Crowbooster, a Y Combinator company is already on its way to do a business on providing twitter usage trends.

Twitter has also partnered with Gnip to make its data commercially available through Gnip’s Social Media API. Both the parties are optimistic that the partnership will make real-time social media analysis even more accessible, reliable, and sustainable for businesses of today.

With an approximate valuation of about $ 3 billion coupled with 65 million tweets per day, there is something in store with Twitter. And that is what makes other third party players lined up for Twitter analytics products or services. Twitter probably might have been trying to put a cap on this and the result is its analytics product.
