Saregama the music label company has taken a serious stride into the digital arena by revamping its current web presence. Saregama which is an age old music label since the gramophone days is looking to bring all its music on one platform via this new website at saregama.com.
One of the key changes and additions to the website has been the addition of free streaming of music. Given how music labels despise piracy this seems like a refreshing approach to counter the same by an age old music label. Besides for the free streaming there is the addition of paid downloads per song as well as paid audio albums and home videos. The new revamped website also features internet radio which is expected to add 25-30 channels in the future.
Pricing
The prices for memberships range between Rs 99 to Rs 999 with a limited number of free downloads with each package.
Competition
This puts Saregama in direct competition with hungama.com which too earlier this year launched its own downloads portal for consumers. The pricing is similar to hungama.com as well which too starts at Rs.99 for the membership.
