YouTube Launches ‘Life in a Day’ Initiative

You Tube has been coming up with a lot of initiatives lately to celebrate the open video platform it has developed. Lately WATBlog covered You Tube’s latest initiative You Tube Play to find the world’s 25 most creative videos.

In another initiative ‘Life in a Day’, You Tube has set out to capture a snapshot of an ordinary day, July 24 as seen from the perspective of people all around the world. The objective of this initiative is to come up with a video which will have various shots of the day at different times from all around the world as captured by ordinary people covering ordinary everyday places.

“You can film the ordinary — a sunrise, the commute to work, a neighbourhood soccer match, or the extraordinary — a baby’s first steps, your reaction to the passing of a loved one, or even a marriage,” Tim Partridge, product marketing manager, YouTube, has said. He further added, “The film will premiere at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and if your footage makes it into the final cut, you will be credited as a co-director and may be one of 20 contributors selected to attend the premiere.”
