The pan-India price has surged Rs 7230 crore from the base price of Rs 1750 crore fixed by the Government of India for the two slots of 20 MHz it is auctioning. At this pace the projected earnings of the government stand at get Rs 26,940 crore taking total revenues to nearly Rs 94,659 crore from 3G and BWA put together.
The individual break-up of the prices for different circles is as given here:
Mumbai-Rs 1,404.2 crore
Delhi- Rs.1384.9 crore
Tamil Nadu-Rs 1271.6 crore
Karnataka – Rs 1006.2 crore
Maharashtra- Rs 915.6 crore
Andhra Pradesh- Rs 903.3 crore
Gujarat- Rs 561.5 crore
Kolkata- Rs 442 crore
There was a negative demand in 12 circles. Excess demand was there only for Mumbai and Delhi circles. There was no demand in eight circles. Six rounds of bidding were completed on day 9.
A total of 11 private companies are bidding for these circles. BSNL and MTNL have already been given the BWA spectrum ahead of private players and will have to pay the equivalent of the winning bid in each service area. A part from Bharti Airtel, Reliance, Idea Cellular, Aircel, Vodafone and Tata Communications Internet Services, the BWA bidders also have four new players — Augere, Tikona Wireless, Infotel Broadband Services and Qualcomm, and Spice Internet and Infotel.
