This one is quite a surprise coming from an auctions site. Though ebay India unlike its western counterpart could be termed more as an ecommerce site.
eBay India has introduced a new feature of ‘eBay Guarantee‘. Ebay Guarantee is nothing but an offering to all eBay buyers a replacement or refund on all transactions in case they are not 100% satisfied with the product purchased. This seems like a move by eBay India to position itself as a quality goods platform rather than a second hand or used goods platform. Its also aimed at inspiring confidence in the consumer to go ahead and use a platform like eBay for transactions.
Ms. Vasundhara Bhonsle, Head-Operations, eBay India stated that this feature was to address the concerns of new buyers on the items purchased. This was a way to assure 100% satisfaction for buyers.
The eBay Guarantee is valid on all eBay transactions on eBay India, eBay Global Easy Buy and on all types of payment methods as well like PaisaPay, Cheque, Demand Draft or Cash on Delivery. The eBay Guarantee also covers the entire transaction amount (both the product price & shipping charges).
I believe the above initiative by eBay will have positive impact on the buyer mindset in terms of buying from the platform. It should bring new buyers on the platform and get them to transact.

It is good to see ebay finally taking action. This will give buyers more confidence in making purchases online.
its too much a hassle to get your money back from these ecommerce companies.. better idea is to ditch the computer for a while and take a walk to the nearest market!!
I had a very bad experience with this Ebay gaurantee claim. I bought a mobile from Ebay. THe product was defective. I have raised a claim. The Claim Adjustor Kaustubh informed me that they will be refunding the shipment charges and asked me to send the product back to the seller. Since it was a mobile phone, the shipment charges were huge. I informed Kaustubh saying the amount is huge. Will Ebay team be refunding the same really? He has confirmed that in mail too. I have sent across the product and the screenprints of the courier receipt.
I got the product replaced. Now they have closed the claim and are not willing to reimburse the shippment charges.
Can anyone please suggest me on this. Thanks in advance.
