Salesforce.com Grows 42% In India – To Launch Chatter By Year End

The online collaboration and cloud computing space in India is still in its infancy. But there is real growth that one is starting to see with the rising interest in this space. The real measure of this is the fact that Salesforce.com which is one of the leaders of online collaboration tools and Saas models the world over has stated that it has seen a 42% growth in its business from India. This growth has been greater in percentage terms than all of asia pacific region.

According to salesforce.com Senior Vice President  Steve McWhirter  an inflection point is being seen among Indian enterprises who are increasingly shifting from expensive hardware and software that burn through precious capital to cloud and Saas services.

Besides for the cloud computing and Saas growth Salesforce is also bullish about their upcoming platform called ‘chatter’ which is an online collaboration tool. Check video below:

As you can see from the video above.. Salesforce Chatter is a linkedin meets twitter kind of app thats aimed at internal networking of the organisation and includes advanced dashboards as well. Looks really neat! Though wonder if Indian corporates and SME’s are ready for this just yet? Whats your take?

Some prominent deals have already taken place in the collaboration segment to give a foothold to well known collaboration service providers in the Indian market. For example HyperOffice partnered with Tata Communications last year to offer the HyperOffice collaboration suite in the Indian market.
