Indiatimes Design Contest – A Way To Crowdsource Better Design?

Indiatimes.com is inviting designers and developers to redesign their shopping property – http://shopping.indiatimes.com.

This is not a marketing campaign, design solutions offered by participants will be taken into account fully or partially. Indiatimes has specially created a contest for customers and designers – Website Redesign Pitch Challenge to revamp the homepage of Shopping site, product pages and mobile category pages.

Contest Details:
Contest partners are Microsoft and Webby Awards

Brief Design Highlights
• Logo should remain same
• Design should have space for advertisements
• Tabs for Register/Login, subscription and other loyalty programmes

Special panel of Judge has been created, consists of Executive Members of The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS), Executives from Microsoft and Indiatimes. The decisions of the judges are final and binding.

Judging Criteria:
20 Points for content & communication plan
20 points for Structure and Navigation
20 Points for Visual Design
20 Points for Integration of Microsoft Technologies
20 Points for Scope of Interactivity

Last Date of Submission (Wireframe/Presentation/ URL):30th April 2010

Grand Prize: 2Lac INR in cash (paid by check) & attend the Webby Awards in June 2010 in New York City.

Lastly, Indiatimes Shopping and other related verticals were revamped by Human Factors International. Their current logo was designed by HNI itself.

In Oct 2009, Yahoo has also invited the audience to sing and record the Yahoo! Signature tune and submit online

In Aug 2009, Microsoft’s search engine – Bing had also launched a Bing Jingle contest and Photo contest where the winner would be featured on the homepage.

It’s a unweathered way of Brand building and bridging the gap between target audience. So all creative designers, start making your presentations.

    I won’t think they pay 2Lacs Rupees. Because they only know how to cheat customers. I wont suggest anyone to trust company like this and spent their valuable time there.
