The US consumers seem to have taken to Apple’s iPad like a fish to water. This has rather surprised the folks at Apple who are now forced to delay iPad’s global launch.
Day 1 of Apple iPad’s launch in the US broke a few records as it clocked more than 300,000 iPads sold. his lead to a shipping of more than 500K iPads in the first week itself and apple pegged demand to grow as the weeks went on.
Hence this unprecendented demand has lead to Apple postponing the device’s international debut until the last week of May.
Many analysts believe that the no real competitor (in terms of direct features) in the market and a cool price tag of $499 (around Rs22,255) is why folks in US are choosing iPad over the lower costing netbooks.
So for now people from the rest of the world outside the US would have to wait till 10th of May which is when Apple will announce the price tag for the iPad outside of the US and also its availability date.
