Looks like Airtel wants to lure all the customers from other Internet and mobile service providers with it’s new schemes. After launching an App Store for mobile devices, Airtel now plans to generate a new wave and add more fuel to the broadband wars by doubling the bandwidth of it’s broadband internet customers at no extra cost. Also Airtel has entered into a pact with Apple to bring the fastest and most powerful iPhone – the iPhone 3GS to India in the coming month.

Airtel Doubles Broadband Speeds For Customers At No Extra Charges

We have reports that Bharti Airtel is upgrading speeds of all its existing customers (on 64, 128, 256 Kbps) to a minimum of 512 Kbps. Also, the customers who currently are on 512 Kbps plans and 1mbps plans will have their speeds doubled to 1Mbps and 2Mbps respectively. Airtel does not plan to charge any additional costs for this upgrade and the upgrade will be completed by June 2010. Not only this, Airtel has also launched 4 Mbps speed plans starting from Rs. 899/ month.

Airtel Signs Pact With Apple To Bring iPhone 3GS In India

Bharti Airtel has signed a pact with Apple to bring the fastest and the most powerful iPhone – the iPhone 3GS to India in the coming month. There are 3 models which are available: iPhone 3G – 8 GB and the iPhone 3GS – 16 GB & 32 GB. The device has a 3MP camera. Here is some evidence regarding 5MP camers to be seen on iPhones soon. As with other iPhone launches, the iPhone 3G will also be locked to the Airtel network and would work only with an Airtel connection. The pricing and the exact timing of the availability of the product has not been revealed yet. Airtel was also the first to launch a Google Phone In India.

    4Mbps at Rs. 899 is great but what about Fair Usage. The reports that you linked to says you get only 6GB. For higher limit you have to shell out 1099 (for 12 GB), 1399 (for 25 GB) and 1799 (for 50 GB).
