Tata DoCoMo does not want to trail behind in providing industry innovative plan offerings and as such is keeping the ball rolling. This time Tata DoCoMo has decided to bring ‘Rollover plans’ to sight which allows telecom subscribers to carry forward their unused talk-time and SMS packages to next month.

‘Rollover Plans‘ allows a subscriber to carry over his unused Talk-time or SMS subscribed through packages to next month. A Subscriber can therefore rollover current month’s unused talk-time up to next 3 months. This increases the validity of any subscribed plans to a maximum period of 90 days thus benefiting users who are considerate in their usages.
Tata DoCoMo will currently offer such rollover plans only for enterprise customers but we are betting on a similar offering for retail subscribers too. The offering will work only on specially designed rollover plans of Rs 500, Rs. 799, Rs. 1000 and Rs. 1099 only. It is however to be seen if such service comes to pre-paid customers as many subscribers now opt for such SMS and Talk-time packs.
According to Mr Anil Sardana, Managing Director, Tata Teleservices Limited, ” Innovation in tariff alone doesn’t give any operator a runaway success—it is understanding the nuances of customer usage patterns and integrating customer needs and value propositions into our product strategy that are key to a sustainable business model. Taking the first mover advantage, we have consolidated an aggressive proposition that offers transparent tariff along with the facility of carrying forward of unused free usage for a period of 3 months—this feature will definitely benefit and interest our enterprise customers.”
Tata DoCoMo is claiming this offering as industry’s first but we have seen similar offerings in past by RCom for its DAPO ( Dhirubhai Ambani Pioneer offer) subscribers. This type of plans although were not adopted by other telecom operators as it was not economically viable for them to keep rolling subscribers unused packages. It also entails serious costs in billing as records of customers unused and rollover talk-time are to be kept for a long time.
