Chennai & Bangalore To Get Number Portability From May

We earlier told you sarcastically about Mobile Number Portability which was most expected to go live from April 1, 2010. The launch of mobile number portability finally seems to be a reality after the Union Minister for Communications and IT, Mr A. Raja announced that the consumers in Chennai and Bangalore would be the first ones in this country to enjoy the fruits of mobile number portability starting from the first week of May, 2010.

Mr. Raja also added that mobile number portability, which was proposed to be achieved by March, got delayed due to certain issues related to getting security clearances. These issues will be sorted out soon and we can then finally see Mobile Number Portability in India.

BSNL To Turn Your Mobile Into Money, Also Launches Money Transfers For Mobile

Indian Telecom Major, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) has plans of launching a new SMS-based service in association with India Post in the near future that will help a mobile subscriber to send money orders electronically through SMSes. The person who receives this special SMS (containing an unique code) can go to his nearest post office and collect the money by showing the code.

BSNL also has plans of launching a special mobile based platform that will any user to use his/her mobile phone for even buying goods at various store, with the help of an electronic authorization from his bank on his mobile phone – just like we use credit cards for making payments.
