Looks like the Maharashtra Police really wants to put a curb on crimes in the state of Maharashtra and to aid this, the Maharashtra Police plans to launch an ePortal for the people of Maharashtra. This is really a positive step in the direction of encouraging people to file a police complaint whenever a crime happens. Many a crimes do not even get noticed by the Police just because most of the normal people are just afraid to enter a Police Station. Yes this a fact. To solve this problem, the Maharashtra Government has created an e-complaint system for citizens to e-mail their complaints to the police.
We have previously told you about the launch of a similar portal by the Kolkata Police too. Citizens of Maharashtra can from now on log on to the Maharashtra State Police online E-Complaint Registration Web site http://gms.maharashtra.gov.in/CMS/. The users are required to select the district and the police station name from a drop-down list and then lodge the complaint. Complainants will also have to submit their mobile numbers and e-mail IDs. After this, you will be sent an unique code to your mobile number for identity verification. This code then needs to be filled in by the complainant for authenticating the complaint.
You can then track the status of your complaint using the unique identification code that was sent to your mobile phone. More than 1000 police stations of the total 1800 in Maharashtra have computers and internet connections as a result of which even the Police Officers too can keep a track of registered complaints in their respective areas. The government plans to start over 12,000 common service centers equipped with computers and internet connections which would help anyone without cell phones and internet connections to file complaints online. The system has been developed by Mastek at a cost of Rs 3 crore. Operational costs would be about Rs 40 lakh annually.
This is a good initiative from the Maharashtra Police.Hope so that it is effective.

I am trying to register complaint, but the system does not seems to work at all, First, the drop down menu of district and police station doesn’t appear, I could not upload my scanned copy of my legal notice as JPEG file, I tried uploading the .doc file, there is no status of what happened to my file……
This system does not even help to register our complaint and what is the point in having the system….hope somebody bring it to the notice of their technical team and rectify the mistake….
