After successful launching in the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Orissa Virgin Mobile has finally launched their GSM services state-wide in Maharashtra including Mumbai. The tariff scheme of Virgin GSM is again something that takes call rates to a new low 
. As an introductory offer, all Virgin Mobile GSM consumers will be offered amazingly low tariffs of of 20p/min for STD and local calls to any Virgin Mobile number without purchasing any special pack.
Calls from Virgin GSM to any other network will be charged at 40p/min for local and 50p/min for STD calls again without any packs. Introductory SMS packs have been released too priced at Rs. 33 (provides 2000 national & international for a month) and Rs. 69 (500 national and international SMSs everyday) respectively. Virgin has also left no stone unturned for taking care of the promotion of the new GSM service and have appointed Ranbir Kapoor and Genelia D’Souza as the brand ambassadors.
Virgin Mobile has many firsts in the GSM sector in terms of features and consumer experience such as equal STD & local call rates. Virgin Mobile is also the first provider to make itemised mobile bills available to all prepaid customers for free. Customers have the freedom to choose whatever number they want rather than the ones available at the store. A series of “v” services have also been launched – vBelong (helps users create their own WAP sites), vJingle & vGenie – a virtual mobile assistant to help you with reminders and social networking updates.
