BachchanBol – Voice Blogging By Amitabh Bachchan – Voice Blogging For Stars – A Good Business?

So Stars and Starlets of Bollywood are taking step after step via social media to connect with their fans. We covered how SRK now tweets and got a mammoth following in just a few hours. Now it seems Amitabh Bachchan who has made bigadda.com famous (and in many ways kept it alive) by blogging regularly on his official blog on the platform now launches another medium to engage with his fans. This time he goes a route thats the last mile.

Bachchan has launched a site called BachchanBol.com (Not bolbachchan as that would mean something else ). This is basically a platform where in users need to dial in 505678910 and they would get to listen to Mr. Amitabh Bachchan’s own recorded voice talking about his life. Mind you this service isn’t free and you would be charged Rs.6 per minute to hear Mr.Bachchan’s heavy baritone! (via DI)

So who is behind this initiative?

We did a bit of digging and found that there is a platform called starsdiaries.net which is powering this voice blogging initiative. Stardiaries is an initiative by InsideIndia a UK based company which aims to bring bollywood stars and their lives to the public and provide them a platform like stardiaries and connect with their fans. Why will this work?

Ok. Everyone knows bollywood works! So thats a huge plus on this service. The second big plus is the dialing in to a number which every phone out there can do. I agree the costs are high at 6 bucks a minute but I know enough bollywood crazy people to tell you that there is an audience out there which will do anything to get a piece of their favorite star! So today its Amitabh bachchan and if tomorrow they tie up with Hrithik, Ranbir and others then you are sure to see good traction for this service.

The only thing Im wondering is that who makes the highest buck in this service? Is it the Star? Who I assume is being paid to be on the platform? Or is it Inside India folks? Or for all you know it may be the Big Daddy in the Mobile Operators!
