TTSL & RCom Launch ‘Push 4 All Mail’ – Affordable Mail Solution For Masses

India’s mobile growth continues to see large scale innovation in Mobile VAS offerings. This time Telcos wants to bring affordable mail solution to every modest featured handset in India.Tata Teleservices and RCom has announced the launch of ‘Push 4 all Mail’ on their telecom networks in association with iseemedia.

mail-push

This service will allow users to get Notification alerts for their incoming mails. All notification alerts will include sender’s address, subject and a small summary of mail content. The service will also allow subscribers to send/forward mails via a simple SMS. TTSL will be charging Rs.15 /month for the service whereas RCom will charge Rs. 30/Month.All the message thereafter will carry a pricing of 50 paisa / SMS.

How to use this service(For Tata Indicom Subscribers)?

  • Send ‘Sub <email ID> <Password>’(Without Quotes)  to 582829
  • To Compose a Mail Send ‘ <Email ID>  <Message>’ to 582829
  • Any mail could be replied or forwarded by just replying to the message arriving from a unique short code each time.

RCom will provide the service for both GSM & CDMA Subscribers. TTSL too will carry  the service for Tata Indicom & Tata DoCoMo Users.

We earlier Covered Way2SMS Email alerts service which is pretty commendable service at the same time completely free. The service only allows notification for mails and as such do not allow any replying, viewing of mails.

It is a harsh reality that majority of Blackberry, iPhone and other smartphones are used without any data plans in India. The major reason being the exorbitant high pricing put in place by Indian telcos (Blackberry unlimited plan costs Rs.899-1099 whereas the minimum surfing plan is priced at Rs.499-599). Even for lower featured handsets GPRS plans are not affordable from any point-of-view but it has still proliferated internet use on such handsets as their is no obligation for minimum monthly payments.

The Email service may not be a real ‘push mail‘ service but could find users in Indian market as getting notification through SMS alerts is way better than firing WAP browser time again to check just mails.

This can potentially wipe out Blackberry type services, specially in a cost conscious market such as India.

Check out http://www.jaamun.in Another website that offers email on sms service. Offers better user experience and more importantly, you can use it on any network in India
