BSNL Takes The Internet To Rural Areas – Launches Innovative Products

Public sector telecom major – Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. has joined hands with Chennai-based IT solutions company Novatium in order to provide cheap and better broadband internet services in the rural areas of Uttar Pradesh. BSNL chief Om Vir Singh says “The broadband penetration in UP is quite low and lower still in rural areas. With this partnership, we are confident of achieving our target of 75,000 broadband connections in UP (East) telecom circle this fiscal”.


Novatium has introduced three new and innovative products in association with BSNL that will help to provide seamless internet connectivity to BSNL broadband customers even in the rural areas where broad penetration is considerably low. Here is a brief description about the three products:

Nova Navigator+ : This device transforms a normal TV set into a computing device and the internet access is provided by BSNL

Nova Neon: A netBook enabled with Wi-fi, multiple USB ports and 160 GB hard disk.

Nova cNergy: A USB stick based internet connection enhancement.

Novatium is currently in the process of connecting all village panchayats in  the eastern region of Uttar Pradesh. Later, the company also plans to take these products to other Indian states.
