TimesJobs.com – well known Job portal of Times Group, has launched a new portal – TechGig exclusively for IT peoples to get in touch with IT industry jobs, news, Expert views etc.. TechGig domain has been chosen because ‘Tech’ is the short form of Technology and ‘Gig’ represents professional engagement in project. So this domain suits well to the portal objective and purpose.

Now, have a look to features:
- Recent IT Jobs
- Top Employees
- IT related Blogs
- IT industry news update
- Articles about IT jobs, skills etc..
New Features:
- Customize your page – Candidate can customize his page and set his page title, key skills and experience.
- Find your Batchmates – Here you can check out that how much your batch mates are earning in various IT sectors (Software Services, Internet/dot com etc..)
- Follow the Company – Job seekers can follow the employer of his choice and stay updated with latest jobs in the company.
Now, let’s also talk about design:
- Nice Web 2.0 design, though this can be better
- Drap n drop components, as in igoogle
- Free of Ads
- Elaborated job detail page
Also have a look to Techgig ppt
Many more features can be added, like:
- Map blog/website of his own preference like LinkedIn, Peerpower, WatBlog etc…
- Choose page theme
- Add more IT related components like career horoscope, payscale tool, career tip etc….
- Add/remove some modules as per the preferences
- Add RSS Feeds…a lot more
I have also found one interesting fact, i.e., Techgig.com domain was booked 10 years back and portal has been launched in 2010 while Timesjobs.com has been booked 8 years back and launched in 2004.
In an all, this is a nice concept implementation; many more should also be launched on same portal to keep abreast with industry movements.I also feel that vertical wise segmentation might be the way to attract skilled and experienced applicants to the job portals. After all 5+ years experience resume is the ones that jobsites make their money out of.

its really nice to have such feature by times..it will surely enhance the job hunting for ITens..
Looks simple and nothing awesome, but I assume they will game the search engine somehow as many big Indian portals have been doing this for a while now..
have a look at SimplyITJob.com which is already in market, a cool and professional look.
