With almost every cellular phone operator in the country introducing one-paisa tariffs, Tata Docomo had to do something very diffrerent, yet again! Their new program titled BuddyNet lets you make local calls to your friends at dirt cheap rates of 6 secs @ 1 paisa (STD Rates of 2 secs per paisa). BuddyNet is a unique concept that lets you create a group of unlimited friends unlike the currently existing “make a group of 3 friends – 5 friends” schemes.
Some finer points of the BuddyNet Program:
- You need to simply send SMS “JOIN” to 121 on your Tata DoCoMo to get you started with the new low tariffs.
- You also get 50 SMS free to invite your friends to join BuddyNet
- Subscriber fees Rs. 7 per week will be charged for BuddyNet.
A Tip: There is a rent free trial period until 31st January 2010 for the BuddyNet program!
One question has been bugging me right from the moment I came to know about this new BuddyNet program. Fine, they let you add unlimited friends to your group and start talking at the amazingly low tariffs. My question is, what if everyone texts every other person for a group invitation? I mean anyone would befriend you for enjoying such low tariffs. So will this not affect Tata Docomo when they are virtually allowing people to create unlimited friends? We tried reaching the BuddyNet program managers with this question, but weren’t able to get through.

tats very kewl scheme. thanks tata docomo
We want our subscribers to have a blast, BuddyNet is one initiative in that direction. The overwhelming response that we have received specially from the youth has placed additional responsibility on us to make the experience for our buddies one of a kind. We would love the whole of India to be on BuddyNet!

simple! With all other operators, esp the existing biggies having matched the per second billing and subscribers shifting back to the old players b’coz of better network, it’s an effort by DoComo to keep attracting more consumers through a more attractive tariff in a guise!
