The most heard theories circulating around Internet predicts that e -mail will become obsolete in few years time and mostly so due to launch of products like Wave from Google’s fold. Now it seems Facebook has retracted to those theories by making e-mail the secondary powerhouse of Facebook interactions through its latest feature allowing users to comment via e-mail.
Facebook’s email notification has become an indispensable utility for office-goers and others to stay alert about their facebook profile activity. With this new feature now they can also revert back to status comments through the notification mail itself!
So for e.g if you have received a comment on your status updates and have enabled notifications mails then you can reply back to that comment from the mail client itself.

To Start Commenting through Email:
- First enable notification mails in Facebook.Know more about it here.
- When you receive a notification mail in regards to comments on status updates you can just reply the mail with your comment in the beginning. (No need to change subject line or anything whatsoever).
- The comment will appear in facebook timeline with in 2-3 minutes.
A Work Around Blocks In Offices?
Facebook is highly surfed from proxies by office employees due to blocking of site. This feature will allow them to participate in facebook conversations bypassing proxies and blocks. The feature will also save time for facebook addicts as they won’t have to visit the site time again to just post comments.
In my opinion this feature is just the initial set and facebook may allow higher interactions like posting status updates Via e-mail in future. This feature might affect Facebook’s page views figures to certain extent as every comment posting visitor surfs other pages too but is a good innovative product for a social network accounting for 350 million social profiles.
