Ibibo Clones Farmville & Does A Good Copy Paste Job

Ibibo which has been well known for its talent hunt contest strategies for building user connect and engagement on its platform has now turned a new leaf. This time ibibo has launched social gaming initiatives. As most people will know that Zynga is by far the talk of the world as far as social gaming is concerned with its apps like Farmville and mafia wars.

So Ibibo decided not to reinvent the wheel but just copy paste something thats already made waves. Hence ibibo has gone ahead and cloned Farmville and launched its own version called Farms (Wow there what an innovative name too!).

According to Rahul Razdan, Head of Gaming and Communication (Mr.Copy Paste) for ibibo.com, “Social Gaming is a relatively new concept where users play online games with their friends. ibibo’s social gaming with a local tinge is an endeavor to replicate day to day issues and bring together Indian audiences by blending local nuances into the gaming environments. Here results-n-rewards are real time, continuous and evolving.”

One can play the ibibo Farm Game [www.play.ibibo.com/ibibofarms] here and as per their release its become quite popular within ibibo as well. It states that about 28,000,000 pieces of fruit and vegetables have been harvested till date, 410,000 pieces of fruit and vegetables are harvested every day, daily 80,000 eggs are produced and about 38,000 buckets of milk our produced on the ibibo Farm game. These number though good are still a far cry from the original. Check out this app data metrics Farmville has over 70 million monthly active users! Now thats huge if you ask me. What is missing from the ibibo release is the monthly active users. I wonder why is it missing?? Maybe its not that impressive after all.

One look at the game and you would know that the UI has been copied to the last detail and I must admit its been copied well. Now whether or not this does become popular beyond ibibo is questionable but the UI and features of ibibo farms have been done well from a usability and engagement perspect. But looking at this I wonder why Chetan Bhagat is crying so loud? I mean I dont even see a micro mini mention even stating “inspired by farmville” on ibibo farms. Atleast chetan got some rolling credits in 3 idiots.

Who is their right mind would use such metrics ?
Do I see zynga suing these guys ?

Pardon my ignorance. Wasn’t Chetan crying because he DIDN’T get any rolling credits?

Dude this is the most funniest post you have ever put up in a very long time. I mean those statisitics on vegetables and eggs made me laugh. I am sure whatever they are doing might be copy paste but you titling Razdan as Mr. Copy Paste and then rest of the stuff was hilarious. Finally – I havent played a single game on FB yet though I keep hearing people spending a lot of time on Farmville and Mafia Wars, so will refrain from commenting on Ibibo Farms, however your post is damn hilarious :-)

Thanks Ram – The idea wasnt to get personal with Rahul though. It was more a comment on this particular ibibo farms product ideation. The execution is really good. But im glad you found the post interesting none the less. :)
