SMS GupShup has come a long way in the messaging business by being in the news either for their tie-ups or for their apparent break even point in business. Now it seems they are looking to take another social route to publicity and its not social media but social causes.

UTI Mutual Fund Soon To Launch Mobile-Based Transactions

UTI Mutual Fund is planning to launch a mobile-based transaction facility by tying up with many leading mobile operators. This will help them reach out to the mobile subscriber base in the country. The platform will be such that will help a user buy and sell mutual fund in their company.

“Since the industry margins have come down, we are now looking at strengthening our distribution network in order to mop up volumes of business,” said Mr Jaideep Bhattacharya, Chief Marketing Officer, UTI MF. The company already uses mobile phone services to give out information related to location of branches and calculation of SIP investments to its customers.

Apalya Technologies’ MimobiTV To Go Global

In an exclusive interview with WATBlog, Vamshi Reddy, CEO, Apalya Technologies Pvt. Ltd., told us that their focus only on the Indian market will be soon shifted. He gave us an idea of which other markets they would be looking at in the near future, Asia pacific and Middle East. Now in the news they are finally planning to enter the overseas business with their mobile video platform, MimobiTV.

After raising $3 million in A series funding from IDG Ventures and Qualcomm Ventures, Apalya has been eagerly waiting for the 3G auctions to take place. This shall help them deliver high quality thus increasing mass adoption and acceptance. According to him, this shall be compelling enough for consumers to adopt services like mobile TV.
